Jimmy Butler III was born in Houston, Texas, on September 14, 1989. His father abandoned him when he was just a baby. His mother raised him in a poor household in the Tomball area of Houston. When he was 13 years old, his mother, Londa Butler, informed him that she did not like how he looked and did not want him living in her home any longer and asked him to leave. Butler hopped back and forth between the homes of his buddies while homeless and terrified. Butler later went on to live in his friend Jordan Leslie, along with Jordan’s parents.
Butler averaged 12.0 points per game while playing 106 games for Marquette.
