Wardell In Harrisonburg, Virginia, Stephen Curry Sr. was born on June 25, 1964. He was reared in Grattoes and attended Fort Defiance throughout his high school basketball career. He was a star player who practiced shooting in the coach’s barn during his free time. His effort paid off, as he eventually rose to become the school’s all-time leading scorer. In 1982, he received the McDonald’s All-American player honor. Curry also competed in baseball in high school, winning titles in both sports. He was chosen in the 1982 Major League Baseball draft by the Texas Rangers.
