Early Life

Khris Middleton was known as James Khristian Middleton. He was born in Charleston, situated in South Carolina, on August 12, 1991. James & Nichelle Middleton are the parents of Middleton. His cousin Josh Powell played in the NBA, and he has 1 elder sister named Brittney.

Middleton & his cousin, Kenny Manigault, were teammates on the Carolina Celtics of the Amateur Athletic Union and Kenny played basketball for Wichita State University. Middleton played basketball for the side of Cyclones under a coach names John Pearson while attending Porter-Gaud School. He had an average of 12 points & 8.6 rebounds each game as a sophomore.

On December 15, 2014, with just four seconds left in regulation and the Bucks trailing the Phoenix Suns by one, Middleton made a contested buzzer-beater shot to give the Bucks a 96-94 victory over the Suns. Middleton had a game-high 14 points.  He defeated the Washington Wizards 91-85 on March 7, 2015, scoring a then-career-high 30 points on 11 of 20 shooting.  Middleton developed into a crucial “3-and-D” player in his second season with the Bucks, shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from beyond the arc. He had a game average of 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 2.3 assists.

Middleton renewed his deal with the Bucks on July 9, 2015, for five years and $70 million with a player option for the fifth year. After suffering a left hamstring injury during a preseason practice on September 21, 2016, Middleton was given a six-month suspension. Middleton produced 31 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in Game 1 of the Bucks’ first-round playoff series against the Boston Celtics, a 113-107 overtime defeat. Despite Middleton scoring 32 points in a 112-96 loss in Game 7, the Bucks went on to lose the series in seven games.

In a 124-113 victory over the New York Knicks on October 22, 2018, Middleton made 7 of her 8 3-point attempts and finished with 30 points. Middleton scored 29 points on December 29 in a 129-115 victory over the Brooklyn Nets despite having a quad ailment. Middleton received his first All-Star selection on January 31, 2019, as he was selected as an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve. He was the first former G League player to receive an All-Star nod. In a 98-97 victory over the Celtics on February 21, 2019, he finished with 15 points and a season-high 13 rebounds. He outscored the Los Angeles Clippers 128-118 on March 28 for a season-high 39 points.

Middleton and Milwaukee agreed to a five-year, $178 million contract extension following the 2018–19 campaign. In a 151-131 victory over the Washington Wizards on January 28, 2020, Middleton set a new career-high with 51 points on 16 of 26 attempts, including 7 of 10 three-pointers. After the game, Middleton said, “I definitely can dedicate that game to him as a thank you for what he did for the game,” in reference to Kobe Bryant, who had passed away two days earlier in a helicopter crash in California. Middleton was selected for his second straight All-Star game on January 30, 2020, when he was named an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve.
