Golden State Warriors selected Poole with the 28th overall pick in the initial stage of the 2019 NBA Draft on June 20, 2019. His three-year, US$6.2 million guaranteed contract was in place. The Warriors signed Poole to his debutant contract on July 11. Poole had made his NBA debut on October 24 in the Warriors’ season-opening resulting in a loss to the Los Angeles Clippers (122-141), coming off the bench with five points, two rebounds two assists, and a steal. He initially made his first NBA start for the Warriors on October 29 against the Pelicans, scoring 13 points in the team’s opening victory of the year.

Poole was given a contract with the NBA G-League team Santa Cruz Warriors in December 2019. He scored 23 points in his debut game against the Stockton Kings. Poole received a second call to join the Golden State Warriors team in January 2020. In a 109-95 victory over the Orlando Magic on January 18, Poole scored a then-career-high 21 points.
