Joel Embiid Born on March 16, 1994, is originally from the Republic of Cameroon, France. He holds citizenship in both the countries, America and France. In their early days, he wished to become a professional volleyball player who would play for Europe, but he changed his decision after joining the NBA. Joel attended Montverde Academy, but because of a lack of playing time, he transferred to a Christian academy, The Rock School, in Gainesville, Florida.

After starting his basketball game in school, Joel continued to play the game at the university level. His records in 2013-14, after playing a total of 28 games averaging 11.2 points, 1.4 assists, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks in 23.1 minutes per game. During his college days at the University of Kansas, on February 13, 2014, he was entitled among the 30 finalists for the Naismith College Player of the Year. In March 2014, he suffered a stress fracture in his back. Due to this, he wasn’t able to play NCAA tournament and Big 12 tournament.
