Kim was born in New York City on October 16, 1961, the daughter of Elvira Alethia, a housewife and social worker, and Howell Wayans, a superstore manager. Kim has ten siblings, many of them become comedians and actors. Wayan and her people lived in New York City’s Chelsea region. She got graduated from Wesleyan University, where she studied English.

Career

Wayans made his film debut in “Hollywood Shuffle” in 1987. Her earlier television roles included guest appearances on “China Beach” and as Alison in the first season of “A Different World.” In films, she had small roles in “I’m Gonna Git You Sucka” in 1989 and “A Low Down Dirty Shame” in 1994. Keenen Ivory Wayans, her brother, directed both films. She showcased in the “Fox” variety show In Living Color with her siblings. Wayans has been part of the cast since its inception in 1990, where she made celebrity impressions of Whitney Houston, Vanessa Williams, Naomi Campbell, and Oprah Winfrey.

Regarding the original role, one critic said Kim was “hysterical” in the role of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks, while another said Wayan played Benita Burrell “perfectly.” She quit the show in 1993, along with her brothers Damon and Keenan Ivory, after the trio of Fox and Waynes argued over replays and syndication.
