Before enrolling at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, he played baseball for “Walker Jr. High” team. During his senior year in 1992, he had been named the “Florida Gatorade Player of the Year”, also was named USA Today’s High School All-America team, and also was rated the top high school prospect in the nation by Baseball America.
In his final year at Dr. Phillips, Damon competed on the track and finished second in the 200-meter dash. While playing football during high school, Damon was struck by Warren Sapp once and had his first concussion.
