The birthplace of Annie Potts is Nashville, Tennessee. Annie was born on October 28, 1952. She is raised in Franklin, Kentucky, with Powell Grisette Potts and Dorothy Harris. Annie has two elder sisters, Elizabeth Grissette and Mary Eleanor. In 1970, she completed her graduation from Franklin-Simpson High School. Annie completed her bachelor’s degree in theatre from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri.


Annie began her career by appearing in the comedy film ‘Corvette Summer’ produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 1978. In 1979, for her role in the movie, she earned a nomination for Golden Globe Award. The same year she also appeared as Persa in ‘King of the Gypsies.’ In 1981, Annie essayed a role in’ Heartaches.’ The following year she portrayed the character of Janine Melnitz in the film ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Amy Grady’ in the film ‘Crimes of Passion.’

Annie played the role of ‘Dana Palladino’ in the comedy series ‘Love and War’ and got nominated for a ‘Primetime Emmy Award‘ for ‘Outstanding Lead Actress in 1994. Her portrayal as Mary Elizabeth in ‘Any Day Now’ drama series aired on ‘Lifetime Television’ for which she was nominated for two Screen ‘Actors Guild Awards’ for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.’ Annie lent her voice as Bo Peep in Toy Story.
