Tom directed Two Films Nocturnal Animals in 2016 and A Single Man in 2009. He currently is the chairman of the Board of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.
Tom built a 24,000-acre private property designed in Santa Fe by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. It is named Cerro Pelon Ranch. This ranch has some additional structures which were designed by company Marmol Radziner. The ranch also has an imaginary town named Silverado that can be used for filming.
