Early Life

On October 27, 1978, in Wellington, Florida, Abrams was born to Dr. Barry Abrams, an expert in infectious diseases, and his wife. Abrams developed a love for science and nature as a child, and he attended and graduated from the University of Florida in Gainesville with a Bachelor of Science in Geography and a minor in mathematics. She has a second Bachelor of Science in meteorology from Florida State University, Tallahassee.

Abrams practiced on-air forecasts for a Tallahassee cable channel as part of her internship at FSU on the FSU Live network, a news as well as weather production run by university students. She also taught a course at FSU about meteorology and worked as a teaching assistant.

Career

She and Roker provided Wake Up with Al and AMHQ with live coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics from Vancouver from February 8 to February 28. When the Weather Channel’s Wake Up With Al programed was cancelled in 2015, Abrams went back to work there.
