Nas, an American rapper, best known by his popular stage name, was born on September 14, 1973. He is recognized as one the best rapper of all time and is a product of East Coast hip-hop. Jones, a jazz musician and the son of Olu Dara began his career in music in 1989 when he made recordings for Large Professor under the alias “Nasty Nas.” Later, he appeared on Main Source’s 1991 hit “Live at the Barbeque”. He had released several hits in his career and holds a very notable position in the hip-hop community. Many rappers like Eminem, and RM looks up to him. In the year 2021, he won his first Grammy.

On September 14, 1973, an African American couple name Fannie Ann and Olu Dara welcomed their son named Nasir bin Olu Dara Jones in the Brooklyn borough of New York. his father was a Mississippi-born jazz and blues artist (born Charles Jones III). While His mother was a North Carolina native who had worked for the U.S. Postal Service. In Arabic, “Nasir” means “helper and savior,” while the word “bin” means “son of.” He is related to the famous actress Yara Shahidi. when he was young his family decided to move to the boroughs of the queen in Queensbridge houses. Here his neighbor ignited his interest in the genre of hip-hop by giving him records.
Career
Nas hired his upstairs neighbor and best buddy Willie “Ill Will” Graham to be his DJ when he was an adolescent. Before switching to his more well-known persona of “Nasty Nas,” Nas first went by the moniker “Kid Wave”. When Nas was 16 years old, he went to the recording studio where artists like Rakim and Kool G Rap worked on their records with producer Large Professor. Nas used to enter the recording booth and would record his own music when they weren’t in the studio. But none of it was made public.
He started his career by performing for the first time live at the barbeque. His skills in consideration to rhythms gained him attention in the hip-hop world which helped him release his debut album titled Illmatic in the year 1994. It was awarded as the best album of the year 1994 by the source.
