David McCallum is a Scottish musician and actor. In the 1960s, he first played a secret agent in the T.V. series ‘The Man from U.N.C.L.E. in The series N.C.I.S. Early Life

David was born on 19 September 1933 in Glasgow. He is the 2nd child of Dorothy, an instrumentalist, and an orchestral violinist Sr. McCallum. At age 3, his family moved to London to play violin in an Orchestra. During the 2nd world war, he used to live with his mother in Gartocharn, Scotland. His parents used to encourage him to make a career in music. He won a scholarship to the University College School in Hampstead, London. In 1946, he started doing voices for B.B.C. radio company. At the age of 17, he played Oberon in the production of Midsummer Night’s Dream, and at 18, he left the school and joined the national service. He also joined Middles*x Regiment, the British Army’s Third Battalion. He attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London after Army. In March 1954, he was promoted to lieutenant.

Career

In 1951, David was the assistant stage manager of the Glyndebourne Opera Company. In 1947, he started acting by doing voices for the B.B.C. radio. He used to play small roles in British films in the 1950s. His first role was in ‘Whom the Gods Love, Die Young’ Play. In 1956, The Rank Organization signed him for a role. He played in Robbery Under Arms in 1957, A Night To Remember in 1958, and Violent Playground in 1958. David’s first film was directed by John Huston, named Freud: The Secret Passion, in 1962. He had a guest appearance at Perry Mason in the year 1964. David McCallum was nominated for Emmy Awards two times in four years for his role as an Introvert Secret Agent.
