On December 28, 1971, Ana Violeta Navarro-Cárdena, a member of a prosperous family in Nicaragua, was born. José Augusto Navarro Flores, her father and Violeta Flores López, her mother. Because of political upheaval, her parents moved to the United States of America in 1980. Ana obtained her high school graduation from the “Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart” in Coconut Grove, Miami. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science and Latin American studies from the University of Miami in 1993. She continued her work after graduating with a “Juris Doctor” from St. Thomas University School of Law. The deportation of Nicaraguan refugees was successfully postponed by Ana while she was a law student in the middle of the 1990s.

Career

Navarro had positions in a number of Republican administrations, including the Director of Immigration Policy and the Florida Governor Jeb Bush’s transition team in 1998. She also held the position of ambassador to the UN Commission on Human Rights, where she denounced Cuba’s abuses of human rights. Later, she worked for John McCain in 2008 and Jon Huntsman Jr. in 2012, serving as the national co-chair of the Hispanic Advisory Council.

She started working as an ABC News political commentator in February 2014.

She also contributes political commentary to CNN and CNN From July 2013 through August 2018, Navarro contributed to the ABC daytime talk show The View.
