Samuel Roy Hagar was born in Salinas, California, on October 13, 1947. He is the Son of Gladys Hagar and Robert Hagar, who worked at a Steel mill. Sammy’s family shifted to Fontana in South California. Sammy completed his graduation from Fontana High School. To improve his livelihood, he did jobs such as picking up fruits and delivering newspapers. Formerly when he was 14, Sammy developed an interest in music and learned to play guitar. Eventually, Sammy created his band named the “Fabulous Castilles.”

Sammy Hagar got his breakthrough in 1973 while he was associated with the band Montrose. Sammy recorded his successful debut single “I Can’t Drive 55.” Sammy produced his first solo album, “VOA.” Since then, he has been known as “Red Rocker.”
Hagar got the replacement for David Lee Roth in the Van Halen band in 1985. In the mid-1990s, Van Halen, with Hagar, recorded several platinum hits such as “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge,” “OU812,” “Balance,” and “5150.” Hagar left the band in 1996.
