Desmond Bishop is an American-Irish comedian born on November 12, 1975. He was brought up in New York and moved to Ireland at the age of 14. Bishop attended St. Francis Preparatory School in the Fresh Meadows section of the New York City borough of Queens. He started attending St. Peter’s College in Wexford, Ireland, when he was 16. Later, at Blackrock College in Dublin, he took the Leaving Certificate exam again. He graduated from University College Cork with degrees in history and English.

Career

After graduating from college, Bishop started working as a comedian in the 1990s. He began hosting shows at the International Comedy Cellar, founded by other well-known Irish comedians. In 2002, Des Bishop appeared in the film In America, playing the role of a stockbroker. The show featured Bishop trying to survive for a month working for minimum wage jobs across Ireland.
